Order of Protection
Under A.R.S. § 13-3602, a person may file a petition for an order of protection for the purpose of restraining a person from committing an act of domestic violence. An order of protection is a civil order intended to protect a person from someone in their family or who they have a relationship with who may commit an act of domestic violence against them. Orders of protection come in two varieties, emergency and permanent. Emergency orders last for one day, while permanent orders last for one year.
